![]() I am, however, saying that the way He loves, is in many regards, quite so. But more than that, I hope it brings you into an encounter with the wildness of His love. When I use the phrase, "the reckless love of God", I'm not saying that God Himself is reckless. ![]() I hope it brings answers to your questions. ![]() I've taken some time to write out my thoughts here. Many have wondered why I'd use a "negative" word to describe God. I think that by trying to clarify what the song was saying he added to the confusion behind the controversy. This is what he had to say, "Many have asked me for clarity on the phrase, "reckless love". This is the statement that Cory Asbury released after many people questioned his theology regarding his lyrics. I was not made aware of the controversy surrounding the popular song "Reckless Love" by Cory Asbury until about a week ago, but now that I am aware this is what I have concluded. The controversy surrounding the song is how the term reckless is used to describe God's love. Worship was created to glorify God, and not to argue over what kind of theology the artist used to write the song. For example, that the song was not biblical and should not be sung in churches. I normally don't pay attention to negative things that people say about worship music, but the things that people were saying caught my attention. I don’t know why they picked these mascots, but here are some of the weirdest college mascots in the United States.įirst things first I do not agree with people getting so caught up in the specific theology of a song that they forget who they are singing the song to. Well there were some schools I found who took a different route with choosing what would represent their school, and many I found comical. It would just be embarrassing, not to mention all the jokes you would get. Obviously you wouldn’t want to have a great sports team and be called “The Butterflies”. These kinds of Mascots are intimidating or show power of the school. These are all things that we can understand why they were chosen to represent their presented schools. Many schools have your normal kind of mascots such as any type of cat (Tigers, Bobcats, Bearcats, Lions, and more), Rockets, Bulldogs, Mustangs, and more. They pump the crowds up and get people involved in the games or whatever they are doing on campus. What would be an Ohio State football game be without Brutus the Buckeye? They are a key part in students school pride and spirit. A school's mascot is important and appreciated by the students. Since the day I met him at orientation, I saw him on my opening weekend freshman year, at many sporting events, and other smaller events. I remember my orientation at Ohio University where I met the Ohio University Bobcat, Rufus. I don’t think there is a single college where students don’t know who their mascot is or have at least met them.
